Uganda Expedition – Through the Lens

Join Marion Payr and Martina Trepczyk for a trip of a lifetime across Uganda, the Primates Capital of the World, in January 2027

Jane would have loved it. Let’s spend our lives trying to live up to her legacy and protect what we love.

What to Expect

10 days in Uganda — the primate capital of the world. Join us for an exclusive, conscious photography expedition: an intimate creative journey crafted for curious souls and passionate photographers.

Together, as two female photographers and filmmakers, we’ll guide you through breathtaking landscapes and close wildlife encounters, while teaching hands-on photography, filmmaking and editing right in our tents and camps. Limited spots ensure a deeply personal experience for both advanced and beginners. It is an unforgettable opportunity to refine your craft, connect with nature, and capture the world with intention.

Seeing gorillas in the wild is one of the most humbling experiences I had in my lifetime. But Uganda is so much more than that. From walking with rhinos to taking part in an exclusive chimpanzee habituation, together we’ll discover some of the treasures of the “Pearl of Africa”.

Highlights

  • Rhino Trekking in the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

  • Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

  • Game Drives through Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for tree-climbing lions and elephants

Your Mentors & Guides

Marion Payr is passionate about wildlife conservation & safari tourism. She is consistently engaging in acts of female empowerment. While she is based on paper in in Vienna, Austria, you can hardly ever grab coffe with her as she’s travelling, mostly to Africa. She truly fell in love with this continent and loves to nerd out on mammal, bird and plant species. Marion Payr is also Co-Founder of the Prints for Wildlife fundraiser, which raised over 2.5 million US dollars for wildlife conservation & community work in Africa since 2020.

Martina Trepczyk is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and artist whose work explores female empowerment, environmental justice, and poetry. A Leica ambassador and ocean conservation advocate, her multidisciplinary practice is rooted in activism and reclaims narrative space. Her lens is unapologetically female—attuned to nuance, resilience, vulnerability, and sensuality. Her photographs from Uganda were exhibited in the Leica Gallery and were chosen for the Prints for Wildlife fundraiser,  a great honor among 200 world renowned photographers and conservationists.

Trusted Pinto Africa Team. In November 2024, we had the chance to travel down this route to experience it first hand. Our guide and driver Nelson knew the entire country like the back of his hand - we’re not kidding. He laughed at the idea of Google Maps. While driving 50mph on a highway road, he spotted two lions in a tree. Eyes like that, knowledge on species and a welcoming heart like his are hard to come by. Just like the rest of the Pinto Africa Team.
